Joint Conference – “Modern International Maritime Law – Exploring the interplay between international and national norms”

Professor Norman Martinez Gutierrez, the Director of the International Maritime Law Institute, visited Tbilisi State University and participated in a joint international conference. The conference, dedicated to the memory of Academician Levan Aleksidze, the founder of the Georgian School of International Law, was organized by TSU in collaboration with the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO, IMLI) and Batumi State Maritime Academy.

 

During the international conference, scholars and experts in the field delved into discussions about the relationship between modern international maritime law norms and national regulations. TSU Deputy Rector Nino Gvenetadze, TSU Law Faculty Dean Tamar Zarandia, Georgian Foreign Ministry Deputy Minister Khatuna Totladze, and Batumi State Maritime Academy Rector Murtaz Devadze delivered welcoming speeches to the participants and guests.

 

The conference followed a structured format with two plenary sessions, chaired by Professor Irine Kurdadze and Professor Konstantine Korkelia, where various aspects of international maritime law were explored.
